At the Project

What You Need to Know

Your group will serve the community by working on someone's home. Projects typically include:
  • Painting (interior and exterior)
  • Siding replacement
  • Window and door replacement
  • Interior repairs
  • Wheelchair ramps
Participants build relationships with homeowners throughout the week and are equipped to share the Gospel on-site.
Roofing projects happen occasionally but are rare. When roofing is included, all crew members working on a roof must be 18 or older. Insurance requirements vary across states, which limits teenage participation on most roofing worksites.
  • Sleeved shirts at all times — no tank tops, spaghetti straps, or midriff-exposing tops
  • Long pants required at worksites — heavy fabric preferred, no ripped jeans
  • Shorts are allowed at the lodging facility only
  • Yoga pants and leggings are okay with a long top that provides full coverage
  • Closed-toe, durable shoes required at all worksites — no Crocs
  • Skirts and dresses must be modest in length
  • Long pants required for Sunday church visits on 6-day and 7-day projects
Participants are expected to be fully dressed any time they are outside their assigned room.
Groups are typically mixed with participants from other churches to form crews. At least two members from the same church group are placed together. If you'd like your entire group to serve as one unit, you can request that in advance — World Changers will try to accommodate it based on group size and worksite needs.
Each crew is made up of students and adults from multiple churches. World Changers staff ensures at least two participants from each church group are placed together. Adult leadership is assigned by World Changers staff, not self-selected.
Approximately eight hours are spent serving at ministry sites each day. Lunch is typically provided on-site, either by a local church or a catered service.
Each evening features a staff-led Gathering that includes worship and biblical teaching. One gathering each week is a Concert of Prayer — a dedicated time of corporate worship and prayer. After the Gathering, church groups break out for their own devotion time before free time and quiet hours.
